Richard received his BBA from Simon Fraser University in 1996 and his CA designation in 1997.
Richard joined Brian Beecham in 2002 to form Beecham Wilson, after nine years of work with our affiliate firm Crowe Mackay LLP including four years in which he commuted into Vancouver to work.
Beecham Wilson, CA's combined with Doug Cameron & Associates, CGA to become The Coast Group Chartered Accountants in 2006.
Actively involved in his community, Richard is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union and a member of the Investment and Finance Committee of the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.
Rob received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1999, his Certified Financial Planner designation in 2001, and completed the three-year Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in-depth tax program in 2001.
Rob moved to Gibsons in 2007 with his wife Christina and dog Chewy to enjoy the lifestyle that the Coast offers, and to join the Coast Group Chartered Accountants.
In 2008, Rob and Christina welcomed their daughter into this world, and in 2010 their son. Rob has gained a diverse range of experience managing and planning the taxability of all sizes of companies by working with some of the largest firms of chartered accountants in Canada, and also with a public company for three years.
Rob has specialized in owner-manager taxation and estate planning since 2005.
In the community, Rob is always trying to make it a better place to live and work and he is always happy to present tax topics to various local groups and businesses.
Lisa received her Diploma in Business Management from Capilano College in 1992 and her CGA designation in 1998.
Lisa became a principal of The Coast Group in 2010 and has over twenty years of public practice accounting experience. The part of Lisa’s work she finds the most fulfilling is helping her clients and building enduring business relationships with them.
In the community, Lisa is a member of the Board of Directors of the Sechelt and District Chamber of Commerce. Lisa grew up on the Sunshine Coast and appreciates the easygoing lifestyle it has to offer. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and her hobbies include running and travel.
Chris began his accounting career articling with a major international firm in Montreal before moving to Vancouver in 1990.
Since receiving his CA designation in 1993, Chris has worked in public practice accounting, industry and in financial services.
Chris moved to Gibsons in 2005 with his wife Yena, also a professional accountant. An avid community volunteer, Chris is a member of the Rotary Club of Gibsons and has served on many boards including the Society for Children and Youth of BC, the Sunshine Coast Arts Council, Community Futures of the Sunshine Coast, and the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.
Pam Knowles moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1964. Her diversified career has taken her from banking, to accounting in industry, to working in Public Practice for more than thirty years.
Pam's experience enables her to handle a variety of aspects of accounting. From basic bookkeeping, setting up accounting systems, to preparing financial statements, to auditing, Pam's versatility makes her a valuable asset to our company.
Pam and her husband Larry maintain an active lifestyle. Pam keeps fitness at the forefront. You can usually see her jogging around town, participating in or teaching aqua fit classes, or working on her golf swing at the local golf courses. When she's not active athletically, she is also active musically, and can be found sitting at her drum kit backing up local musicians.
Pam has been actively involved with numerous local organizations over the years.
Kristine Toynbee received a BComm from the University of Northern BC in 2003 and her CGA designation in 2009.
Kristine grew up on the Sunshine Coast but left to attend university and work.
In 2005, Kristine moved back to the Sunshine Coast and has since been working for the The Coast Group. Kristine and her husband enjoy spending time with their 2 children and taking advantage of what the coast life has to offer.
Emily was born and raised in Sechelt and has been working in accounting since 1995. She joined The Coast Group in the fall of 2007 and is working towards of her CPA designation.
Emily has a keen, detailed oriented work ethic, which blends perfectly with her dynamic personality. She has an adventurous spirit, enjoys time spent outside, and with a spare moment alone she loves a long run.
Emily lives in West Sechelt with her children Douglas, Cole, and Tianna.
Jody joined The Coast Group in 2007 and assumes the role of Executive Assistant to the Partners.
Jody’s many years of customer service and administrative experience has allowed her to provide the highest quality of service possible to our clients.
Jody grew up on the Sunshine Coast and loves the coastal lifestyle. She likes to spend time with her family, taking advantage of all that Sechelt has to offer and enjoying the beautiful beaches and parks in the area. She also likes to relax with a good book or her newest knitting project.
Jennifer joined The Coast Group team in 2010. As an Administration Assistant, she cheerfully greets our clients as they come into the office, answers and directs calls and provides administration support for the firm on a full time basis.
Jen has always worked in the customer service industry throughout her career and brings with her 13 years of banking experience. The banking industry has provided her with the necessary tools to ensure confidentiality, accuracy and a commitment to excellent client service.
Jen and her husband Murray moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2005 from Northern BC. She delights in the snowless winters and the beautiful beaches the Coast has to offer. Together, with their two children, they enjoy hiking, camping, playing squash, going to the beach, crabbing and lounging on their deck with friends and family!
Alex received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2004.
Upon completing her articling at MNP in Chilliwack, Alex obtained her Chartered Accountant designation in January of 2009. Alex has a background in small and medium size business and enjoys helping clients with their various accounting needs.
Alex moved to the Sunshine Coast in September of 2011 to achieve a more balanced lifestyle. In her spare time she enjoys exploring with her camera, taking in all the amazing views the Coast has to offer. In the spring and summer Alex enjoys playing softball, a sport she's enjoyed for 24 years.
Yena received a Bachelor of Arts (Psych) from UBC in 1984 and her CGA designation in 1998.
Yena completed her CGA program while working with a major international accounting firm in Vancouver. She has over 20 years accounting experience working in both public practice and industry. Her industry experience includes small to medium size businesses, mining and exploration, transportation, entertainment and high tech.
Yena enjoys life on the Coast with her husband, Chris and their dog, Duchess. She enjoys golf, collecting Inuit and native arts and chilling on the deck.
Chelsie joined The Coast Group in October of 2014. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Capilano University. As of September 2015, Chelsie is currently working towards her CPA designation.
Chelsie has spent the majority of her life living on the Sunshine Coast, having moved here from Australia at a young age. When not in the office she enjoys making the most of what the coast has to offer by spending time at the beach and out on the boat. She also stays active by doing yoga and hiking.
Alexandra joined The Coast Group in September 2015, upon completion of her degree. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Capilano University in June.
In addition to starting work this fall, Alexandra is currently working towards her designation, through enrollment in the CPA program.
Alexandra has lived on the Sunshine Coast since 1997, when she and her family moved here from Yellowknife. Photography, spending time with family, and being outdoors as much as possible are some of the things she spends time on outside of work and school. Yoga and running are also interests for maintaining an active lifestyle.
Nadia received her B.Comm with Distinction at McGill University in 2007 and later her Diploma in Chartered Accountancy at Concordia University in 2009.
Nadia began her career with a small firm and upon graduation she continued it with one of Canada’s “big four” accounting firms in Montreal. She now has over 10 years of experience in accounting, assurance and advisory services. Ever since she received her professional designation in 2009 she has been heavily involved in coaching CPA candidates and teaching accounting and assurance through Concordia University and CPA National Program.
Nadia joined the firm in 2010 as Assurance Services Manager, frequently travelling from Montreal to the Sunshine Coast, where she lived for 2 years. She enjoys providing professional firm trainings and implementing new accounting and assurance standards. She is also a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, licensed in the state of Illinois.
Cobi received her diploma in Business Administration from Capilano University in 2010 and is currently working towards obtaining her CPA designation.
Cobi has over five years’ experience working in public practice and has completed all of the CPA required work experience. She's our in-house QuickBooks expert and a resource person for our clients. Her extroverted personality enables her to communicate well with clients and build effective business relationships.
Beyond work and school, Cobi enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Nicholas and her daughter, Marissa. In her spare time she can be found either relaxing on the beach, riding horses or absorbed in a good book.
Sheryle joined The Coast Group in January 2017. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Having grown up on the Coast, she and her partner, Travis, moved back to Sechelt full time after graduating. After taking a short break from school, Sheryle is now working toward a Diploma in Accounting.
Outside of work, Sheryle enjoys spending time with friends and family, going for walks along the sea wall and painting.
Allison joined The Coast Group in January 2017. She received her Bachelor of Science at McGill University in 2015, and is now enrolled at UBC for a diploma in accounting. After spending 5 years living in Montreal, she is excited to be living at home again on the Sunshine Coast, where she grew up. When not working, Allison enjoys spending time with family and friends, tap dancing, and going to as many concerts as she can.
Deborah joined The Coast Group as the firm’s Lead Administrator in August 2017. Deborah brings with her many years of administrative experience. She has worked in both law and accounting firms throughout the Lower Mainland. Deborah and her husband moved to West Sechelt in 2013. She enjoys a very active lifestyle and is involved in many of the community based activities here on the Coast.
Chloe Small joined The Coast Group in March of 2018 and brings over ten years of accounting experience. She received her CPA, CMA designation in September 2015 after completing the Strategic Leadership Program. Over the years, she has worked for various types of industries including manufacturing, construction, safety solutions and early childhood education. After travelling for over a year, she moved back to the coast to be closer to her family. Of course, she still enjoys traveling whenever she can.
Rebecca joined The Coast Group in January 2018 as an Administrative Assistant in our Sechelt office. She brings over thirteen years of experience in customer service and administration including six years in the banking industry. Rebecca grew up on the Sunshine Coast and currently lives in West Sechelt with her husband Richard and their two daughters. Outside of work, you’ll usually find her buried in a book but also enjoys hiking and trying out new baking recipes.
Brooke Venema received her CGA designation in 2014. She holds a diploma in Business Management, diploma in Accounting, and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce. Brooke enjoys working with clients to solve their accounting issues and satisfy their regulatory requirements. Her background is with small-medium sized businesses, estates and trusts, and audits including real estate and legal trust audits. Her industry experience includes real estate and mining. In her spare time Brooke volunteers with the Hyde Creek Watershed Society as their Treasurer. Brooke lives in Coquitlam with her husband, son, and their pets. They love taking advantage of everything the West Coast has to offer from hiking to eating and drinking.
Kelly returned to The Coast Group in September 2018 after being off the coast with her family for two years. She is back in her role of administrative assistant, helping in the firm’s taxation department. Kelly brings with her many years of customer service and administrative experience and always strives to offer the best client care possible. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, hikes with her dogs, kayaking along this beautiful coast, and generally being outside, taking in all that the coast has to offer.
Brian, who received his CA designation in 1967, began public practice on the Sunshine Coast in 1979 after years of public practice in Whitehorse and Vancouver.
In 2002, Brian went into partnership with Richard Wilson, forming Beecham Wilson CA's which operated as such until the combination with Cameron & Associates in 2006 when the new name, The Coast Group Chartered Accountants, was adopted.
In Brian's 35 plus years of professional experience, Brian has worked with many different types and sizes of clients in many different industries but has always specialized in work with owner-managed business and personal taxes.
Brian had always been involved in the community in various capacities and has recently retired from the Board of Directors of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union.
Doug Cameron received his CGA designation in 1980. Doug began his own public practice on the Sunshine Coast in 1987. Doug's practice, Cameron & Associates, CGA continued up until the combination as part of The Coast Group Chartered Accountants in 2006.
Doug and his wife are active people and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Whether he is kayaking, horseback riding or just out for a run, Doug is a person who appreciates a balanced lifestyle.
Doug has also been involved in the community in many different capacities and has been treasurer of the Sechelt Fire Protection District since 1994.
